If you added new hardware to your PC before the Blue Screen error, shut down your PC, remove the hardware, and try restarting.

These errors can be caused by both hardware and software issues. You might see a message that says, "Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."

Any laptop that has "no" in the middle of its name might not be a wise choice.Blue Screen errors (also sometimes called black screen errors or STOP code errors) can occur if a serious problem causes Windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly. What will I buy next? I have no idea but I will not be sending in the rebate until after 14 days. I just was thrilled that I can return the laptop without penalty, which I will do this evening. The guy from Lenovo tried to argue that the store would lose nothing but the manager was stuck on store policy and would not budge. It is their policy not to accept merchandise for which the rebate has been sent. Fortunately, my husband sent in a copy of the bar code label instead of the label off the box and so the rebate could not be processed otherwise, the store would not refund our money. After some argument back and forth, the assistant manager said that I could return the laptop. It seems that Lenovo has a 21-day return policy and that it is the policy the store has to follow, not their 14-day policy. Then we had a three-way conversation with the manager at Office Depot. Finally I was given to another manager who told me that I should fax the company a copy of my receipt so that they could verify when my husband purchased the machine. I was escalating all by myself-no team needed here.

This manager told me that he was consulting his "escalation team". I was given to another manager who put me on hold for as long as it takes a person to figure out the half life of uranium without a periodic table. I just wanted a new laptop or my money back. Did I mention that this was a new laptop? I insisted that I did not want to fix anything. Did I mention that this was a new laptop? The next "solution" was to have Lenovo send me some recovery discs and a new harddrive which I would install. So I would be without a computer for as long as I had been with one. I was then told that Lenovo would send me a box and I could ship the laptop back to them and it would be back to me in a week. I told them I wanted to speak to someone now, not 2 or 3 days from now. I was not making an appointment with God. I waited a long time on hold and then was told that a supervisor would get back to me in 48 -72 hours. I called Lonovo again today and complained bitterly and told them I was putting signs up at my office warning people not to buy a Lenovo and that I would be contacting the media.

They also will not exchange a laptop for which the rebate has been sent. Well, Office Depot has a 14 day return policy and it was now day 15.

I then decided to give up and return the laptop to Office Depot. Did I mention that the laptop was only 10 days old? I went away for the weekend and when I returned I tried once more to contact support and see if I might get another person with some different ideas. They determined that the computer was not recognizing the operating system. Several calls to Lonovo resulted in no help at all. It worked beautifully for about 10 days and then I got the black death-nothing on the screen at all but a little flashing cursor at the top. My husband bought me a Valentine's gift of a Lenovo 3000n100 laptop.
